A spectacular panorama awaits you from the top of the Sonnjoch. Starting point is the Große Ahornboden, a beautiful maple forest, at the Eng alpine village. During the summer months it can get quite crowdy there but as soon as you have passed the Binslam it’ll get more quiet quickly. The last ascent to the summit is a bit strenuous and rather long. The reward for taking it is a great panoramic… Weiterlesen

From Rottach-Egern the road leads a couple of miles into the valley direction Sutten skiing area. Next to the toll booth in Enterrottach is a parking lot from where you can start a tour to a summit with a great panoramic view right next to the Wallberg. Along your way you will pass the impressive falls of the Rottach and from the top of the mountain you will enjoy a fantastic view… Weiterlesen

Halfway between the lakes of Tegernsee and Achensee sits this rarely visited summit in the „Blauberge“ (Blue Mountains). There are three routes leading to the top which differ much when it comes to condition needed. Most of the time you will be recommended to take the route leading through the Wolfsschlucht. This is the most scenic way but since you will have to cope with a very difficult ascent at the end… Weiterlesen

This was one of the first tours i described on this blog, but never translated it into English. So I thought that I can make you dream in those times, where we can’t travel. This hike is a bit strenous at times but the reward will be a breathtaking view over lake Chiemsee and its surroundings.

From the shores of the artificial Sylvenstein lake this tour runs at first along a even paved road through dense forest. You continue above the Krottenbach canyon still rather comfortable direction Delpsee. The ascent at the end of the valley is steep and quite strenuous. You will be awarded with the maginificent Karwendel panorama from the Tölzer Hütte. The complete hike is rather long and so you have to be in good… Weiterlesen

During this tour you will have to bring yourself to take an ascent of arounf 1,500 ft. along a skiing slope. At some points it is a bit steep, but easily manageable. As soon as you have reached the upper end of the ski lift on a ridge called Tanne you will continue on a forest road comfortably downwards. The first part of the tour will offer great views of the Jochtal… Weiterlesen

If you want to see an impressive waterfall, you just found your next hike. The „Kuhflucht“ waterfalls are amongst the highest falls in Germany and especially in spring when it has been raining heavily they are spectacular. The tour is rather easy to walk up to the falls but afterwards the path is getting pretty steep on it’s way up the mountain. During the hike you will have great views of Kloster… Weiterlesen

This mountain has the nickname mountain of different worlds. You do find remarkable fields of energy that have been used already by the Celts. Apart from that this is a spectacular, but also a bit strenous tour, during which you will be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of the entire Lake Millstatt. During this hike you won’t come across any cabins where you could enjoy a drink or meal, so make sure… Weiterlesen

Scenically this is one the most beautiful tours, I hiked so far. I had to stop pretty often to admire the monumental mountain scenery. And here comes the good thing about this hike: You don’t need to be shaped up for Iron Man to walk this tour. The ascent through the Laliederer valley is mostly smooth. There is just one relatively short steep ascent to the Falkenhütte and the descent to the… Weiterlesen
