This is a pretty easy tour that most of you will be able to walk. Along forest roads and smooth paths you will reach the summit. From the top of the mountain you’ll have a fantastic view over the Nockberge and Carinthia all the way to Italy and Slowenia. It takes a bit of time to get to the Frido-Kordon-Cabin. But that means that you will start at an pretty high level… Weiterlesen
A spectacular panorama awaits you from the top of the Sonnjoch. Starting point is the Große Ahornboden, a beautiful maple forest, at the Eng alpine village. During the summer months it can get quite crowdy there but as soon as you have passed the Binslam it’ll get more quiet quickly. The last ascent to the summit is a bit strenuous and rather long. The reward for taking it is a great panoramic… Weiterlesen
For this tour you will need to be in good shape since you will climb quite a few feet uphill. The reward for doing this is an awesome view almost all of the time over the Ehrwalder Basin and the Zugspitze. The trail is easy to walk and apart from the last piece to the summit of the Ups there are no difficult points to master. The ridge between Ups and Daniel… Weiterlesen
If you are looking for a scenic drive through incredible mountain scenery, you should take this route at least once. Since you are not on a highway you will always find a posibility to stop and take some pictures. And there are quite a few places where you will be tempted to stop. The scenery really is breathtaking. So take your time when travelling this road. Here the route becomes the destination.
During this tour you won’t climb any summits but you will visit a cabin that belongs to my all time favorites offering great food and spectacular views. Since you will mostly walk parallel to the mountain you can make the 3600 feet in elevation without too much strain. This tour will reward you again with great panoramic views over the Millstätter See and the mountains surrounding it.
This mountain has the nickname mountain of different worlds. You do find remarkable fields of energy that have been used already by the Celts. Apart from that this is a spectacular, but also a bit strenous tour, during which you will be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of the entire Lake Millstatt. During this hike you won’t come across any cabins where you could enjoy a drink or meal, so make sure… Weiterlesen
An exceedingly natural delight awaits you when driving this panoramic road. On this trip the jounrey is the reward and you really should take your time when driving along this road. In this post you will for once not find a description of one of my hikes but one of a drive through the high alps to Austria’s highest mountain.
Today I want to write about a tour through beautiful scenery which is apart from the ascent to the Naunspitze not very strenuous. The Kaisertal Valley sits between the massifs of the „Zahmer Kaiser“ (tame emperor) and the „Wilder Kaiser“ (wild emperor) in the south. Those of you that don’t want to climb as high can skip the ascent to the Naunspitze.
Scenically this is one the most beautiful tours, I hiked so far. I had to stop pretty often to admire the monumental mountain scenery. And here comes the good thing about this hike: You don’t need to be shaped up for Iron Man to walk this tour. The ascent through the Laliederer valley is mostly smooth. There is just one relatively short steep ascent to the Falkenhütte and the descent to the… Weiterlesen
As you might know, August 15 is Assumption Day and therefore a public holiday in roman-catholic Bavaria. Really in all of Bavaria? No…. There are a few heretical towns in Franconia that have lost their good faith and are mostly protestant and therefore hve to work on this day. I was looking forward to that day this year, since it was my first day of vacation. And on top the forecast had… Weiterlesen
