Sure, there is a road in the valley that connects Oberammergau and Ettal but this would mean that you miss the great views of the surrounding mountains. If you are looking for a scenic drive through incredible mountain scenery, you should take this route at least once. Since you are not on a highway you will always find a posibility to stop and take some pictures. And there are quite a few places where you will be tempted to stop. The scenery really is breathtaking. So take your time when travelling this road. Here the route becomes the destination.
Eine landschaftlich sehr reizvolle Fahrt durch ein einzigartiges Bergpanorama. Da diese Straße keine Autobahn ist, könnt Ihr hier die Strecke genießen und immer wieder Fotostopps einlegen. Und es gibt an der Strecke wirklich viele Orte, an denen man anhalten möchte. Die Landschaft ist wirklich einzigartig. Nehmt Euch als Zeit für die Strecke. Der Weg ist hier das Ziel.
During this tour you won’t climb any summits but you will visit a cabin that belongs to my all time favorites offering great food and spectacular views. Since you will mostly walk parallel to the mountain you can make the 3600 feet in elevation without too much strain. Bei dieser Tour gibt es keinen Gipfel zu erklimmen, dafür werdet Ihr aber mit einer Hütte belohnt, die zu meinen Lieblingshütten zählt. Da Ihr meistens parallel zum Berg geht, sind die 1.100 Höhenmeter ohne große Anstrengung zu absolvieren. Auch diese Tour bietet Euch tolle Panoramaausblicke über den Milstätter See und die Berge der Umgebung.
During this hike you will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Karavanke and Julian Alps as well as the „Hohe Tauern“ all the way to the „Großglockner“. Since this tour starts at around 6.200 ft. you won’t have to climb too much difference in altitude.
An exceedingly natural delight awaits you when driving this panoramic road. On this trip the jounrey is the reward and you really should take your time when driving along this road. In this post you will for once not find a description of one of my hikes but one of a drive through the high alps to Austria’s highest mountain.
